Oh ... this is so sad but I'm so thankful they brought him back to the shelter 💜. I'm going to put information on my refrigerator as to what to do if something happens to us/me. Our 3 cats deserve the best ... they all started homeless in our neighborhood but it's my intention they never be again ... I hope I can somehow outlive them. 🙏☮️💜🐾🐈⬛️
Our shelter requires by contract all animals to return to us if something doesn't work out. But we also have a program where, if you let us know in advance and fill out paperwork, if something happens to you unexpectedly we will take your pets. I think it's a great idea to have the information on the fridge, including where they go to the vet so if anything happens there is access to their health records. The hardest thing for me is when someone surrenders a pet and they don't bring any blankets, toys, or anything with it, or if they illegally abandon them at the door and they don't leave a note with the pet's name.
